Cake Worth a Million Pounds

Our family meals always feature pound cake. I've tried several recipes, but this million-dollar pound cake is the greatest! Its delicate, rich texture makes it unusually smooth. 

Every time we serve this pound cake, its texture and flavor make it distinctive. 

Ingredients 2 cups softened butter 3 cups sugar 6 big room-temperature eggs Two teaspoons vanilla 4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup whole milk Optional confectioners' sugar

Directions Preheat oven to 300°. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl for 5–7 minutes until frothy. Beat each egg carefully after adding it. Beat extract. Add flour alternately with milk and mix until combined.

Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Bake for 1 hour and 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from pan to wire rack to cool completely after 15 minutes. Sprinkle confectioners sugar if desired.
