Directions Preheat oven to 300°. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl for 5–7 minutes until frothy. Beat each egg carefully after adding it. Beat extract. Add flour alternately with milk and mix until combined.
Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Bake for 1 hour and 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove from pan to wire rack to cool completely after 15 minutes. Sprinkle confectioners sugar if desired.
